WEDNESDAYS, 6:30-7:30 pm:

Vintage Oriental Bellydance Combinations with Janim & Laila

Beginning August 4th, at the Dance Café Studio in Downtown Pittsburgh. 805/807 Liberty Avenue (above Dozen!)

Join Janim and Laila for 60 minutes of Vintage Style Belly Dance as we learn movement vocabulary break-down, belly dance isolations, and technique while trimming and toning our bodies!

These classes will focus on the basics of bellydance and the vintage flair! Discover the timeless beauty and joy of this organic dance. Students will learn basic technique including lifted stance and posture, shimmies, isolations, undulations and traveling steps. The session will focus on combinations and a mini-choreography. We will occassionally touch on the use of zills (finger cymbals) and veil.

Please wear comfortable, exercise clothing (yoga pants and half or full exercise top) and bring a hip scarf if you have one!

Vintage Oriental Bellydance with Janim & Laila, drills and technique

Ongoing, at ISTANBUL in Lawrenceville. 4130 Butler Street

Join Janim and Laila for 60 minutes for the Fundamentals of Vintage Style Belly Dance as we learn movement vocabulary break-down, belly dance isolations, and technique while trimming and toning our bodies! We will touch on the use of veil and finger cymbals, and occassionally we will do vintage floorwork! Drop Janim or Laila a line to know what next week holds! Classes are ongoing so feel free to drop in at anytime!

MONDAYS, 7:00- 8:00 pm: Egyptian Style Oriental Bellydance with NAWAL

at the Wilkins School Community Center 7604 Charleston Street, Regent Square,  412.244.8458. See wsccpgh.org for directions to the center.

Join Nawal for this continuous six-week series. The fee for the six week course is $65.

Bellydance is an ancient art form that is fun and great exercise for all ages and body types. Nawal teaches Egyptian style oriental bellydance. The course includes instruction in basic bellydance movements and simple combinations. We warm up with stretching and strengthening exercises. We drill the basic movements so that each student develops proper technique. We also work on choreography for student shows every few months. Dress in comfortable clothing such as yoga or dance pants and a tank top or sports bra. Bring a yoga mat or towel for floor exercises.

Nawal is also available for private lessons!
